One moment you\u2019re feeling okay, and the next you\u2019re weighed down, anxious, or frustrated\u2014just because of the story running in your mind. The good news is: you don\u2019t have to stay stuck!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Here\u2019s a simple, effective practice I like to use, and share with my clients: <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Energy Pivot<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step One: Catch Yourself<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>You can\u2019t change anything until you are aware of it. When you notice yourself feeling a little off\u2014maybe worried, irritated, or just heavy\u2014pause for a moment. Take a nice deep breath, and exhale slowly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step Two: Curiosity<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Instead of pushing the heavy feeling away, get curious, and ask yourself, \u201cWhat thought was I just thinking?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Often, you\u2019ll discover there\u2019s a thought looping in the background that isn\u2019t serving you. Maybe it\u2019s an old fear, a self-doubt, or just a habit of focusing on what\u2019s wrong instead of what\u2019s right.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Once you identify the thought, tag it to the heavy feeling. Examples: When I think that thought, I feel a twist in my stomach. When that thought pops up, I feel anxious.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step Three: Choose How You Want to Feel<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Once you\u2019ve identified the way the thought makes you feel, gently ask yourself, \u201cHow do I want to feel instead?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is where the shift begins. Do you want to feel calm instead of anxious? Hopeful instead of discouraged? Joyful instead of heavy?&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Naming the feeling you want is like pointing your compass in a new direction.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step Four: Pivot Your Thought<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Finally, ask yourself, \u201cWhat thought would help me feel the way I want to feel?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For example, if you want to feel more peaceful, you might try on the thought: \u201cI don\u2019t have to solve everything right now.\u201d If you want to feel more confident, maybe it\u2019s, \u201cI\u2019ve handled challenges before, and I can handle this one too.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This doesn\u2019t mean forcing fake positivity. It\u2019s about finding the next gentle thought that feels better. Even a tiny shift like moving from \u201cI can\u2019t do this\u201d to \u201cI\u2019m learning as I go\u201d can completely change your emotional state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Don\u2019t try to make it a big leap. Just choose a thought that feels a little lighter, a little truer, a little closer to the energy you want to embody.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Practicing the Pivot<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Like any practice, the more often you use The Energy Pivot, the easier it becomes. You\u2019ll start to notice your thoughts sooner, and the gap between \u201cfeeling bad\u201d and \u201cshifting up\u201d gets shorter. Over time, you\u2019ll realize you really do have the power to change how you feel. Before long, it becomes second nature\u2014like flipping a light switch back on.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Ripple Effect<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>And here\u2019s the beautiful part: Every time you pivot your energy, you\u2019re not just helping yourself. You\u2019re also uplifting the people around you. It reminds you that you always have a choice, and that even one new thought can turn your whole day around. So when you catch yourself in a thought spiral, pause. Breathe. Ask. Choose. Pivot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Grow On!<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Writing reinforces remembering! <\/strong><br>Try writing down the thoughts that feel heavy to you, then write a few substitute thoughts that feel better next to each one.
