That when we finally stop moving, lie down, and close our eyes, the body will naturally soften and let go. But after 20 years as a massage therapist, I can tell you that\u2019s not always true.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Some people get on the table and melt almost instantly. Their breath deepens, their body drops, and it\u2019s like they\u2019ve been waiting for that moment all day. Others feel like concrete\u2014holding, guarded, braced. And no matter how calm the room, or intentional the touch, their body doesn\u2019t fully let go.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Not because they\u2019re doing anything wrong, but because relaxation requires practice.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Most of us have spent years practicing tension. We stay alert, push through, hold it all together. So when it\u2019s time to relax, the body doesn\u2019t always know how. It hasn\u2019t built that pathway yet. Meditation, massage, yoga, even something as simple as conscious breathing can induce your body\u2019s natural relaxation response. Returning to stillness again and again (and again) gently teaches the body and nervous system a new way to be.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is what drew me to sound baths. You don\u2019t have to do anything. You simply lie down, receive, and allow the sound to move through you. Over time, something shifts. The nervous system starts to recognize the pathway, and the body remembers what it feels like to soften.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Relaxation becomes more accessible. More familiar. It becomes something you can return to whenever you want. And that\u2019s really the point. Allowing ease when you need it, or when you simply want it. Not forcing it. Not chasing it. Just practicing relaxation until your nervous system knows the way, and your body naturally follows.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Grow on!<\/strong><br>When was the last time you allowed yourself to experience truly deep rest?<br>&#8211; Where were you and what were you doing?<br>What kind of relaxation practice calls to you right now?<br>Do you give yourself permission to rest without earning it first?<br>What might shift if relaxation became part of your regular rhythm?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-background-color-background-color has-background\"><strong>Ready to let your body remember what ease feels like?
