{"id":3845,"date":"2020-04-30T16:44:01","date_gmt":"2020-04-30T23:44:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/cyndicombs.com\/coaching\/?p=3845"},"modified":"2022-08-10T15:30:01","modified_gmt":"2022-08-10T22:30:01","slug":"give-yourself-a-break","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cyndicombs.com\/coaching\/2020\/04\/30\/give-yourself-a-break\/","title":{"rendered":"Give Yourself a Break!\ufeff"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>I have been receiving massage on a regular basis for the last decade and a half.&nbsp; Once a week I give my body a break from EVERYTHING.&nbsp; <br>I put myself face down on some lucky therapist\u2019s table and I just release every bit of tension I can release.&nbsp; It\u2019s like a rebirth for my energy.&nbsp; Blood, oxygen, and chi all begin to flow where they may have been stuck.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I learned a long time ago that not only do I release the tension my muscles are holding during massage, but my muscles remember how to release, so they actually accumulate less stress between massages. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But here in pandemic world, LOTS of perceived stress to go around <br>and NO massages!&nbsp; So what can we do to release stress?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Give yourself a fucking break!<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Often we are so busy that massage time is the ONLY time we allow ourselves to relax.&nbsp; Maybe you look forward to some down time during your regular pedicure.&nbsp; I remember being so busy when my kids were little, that I looked forward to doctors appointments because I usually got a solid 10 or 15 minutes in the wait room where I could just sit!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you can\u2019t schedule a massage, a pedi, or spend 15 minutes just waiting in a doctor\u2019s office, when are you scheduling rest breaks?  Most of us just aren\u2019t! <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s like we think we have to \u201cdo\u201d something on order to relax.&nbsp; What if we just relaxed?&nbsp; What if when we\u2019re tired, we just lay down and take a nap?&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Does going with the flow seem too radical?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Write a rest break right into your schedule.<\/strong>&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s as important if not MORE important than anything else on your schedule.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I KNOW!&nbsp; You\u2019re working from home, learning new tech, teaching your kids, walking the dog, and trying not to lose your mind.&nbsp; But if we were NOT sheltering at home and socially distancing, you would schedule that massage or that pedi, or that yoga class, right?&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Set that hour aside for rest! &nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pencil it right in where the massage or the pedi would go.&nbsp; Let anyone you live with know that you have an appointment to keep and then use that time to be quiet.&nbsp; Close your eyes and just rest.&nbsp; In bed is fine, or on a yoga mat.&nbsp; Put a bolster or pillow under your knees, and a slightly rolled towel under head and neck to support your relaxation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Savasana is the \u201ccorpse pose\u201d done at the end of a yoga class.&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" src=\"https:\/\/cyndicombs.com\/coaching\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/Savasana_artistic-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3858\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cyndicombs.com\/coaching\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/Savasana_artistic-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/cyndicombs.com\/coaching\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/Savasana_artistic-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/cyndicombs.com\/coaching\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/Savasana_artistic-768x432.jpg 768w, https:\/\/cyndicombs.com\/coaching\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/Savasana_artistic.jpg 1500w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Make yourself as comfy as possible and just let it all go!&nbsp; Let go of the \u201chave too\u201d and the \u201cmust-dos\u201d and all the rest of it, and just relax for 30 minutes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If it\u2019s possible to fall asleep, and you need to be up and doing something in the next segment of your day, set an alarm on your phone.&nbsp; Choose one that\u2019s gentle, like birds chirping so it doesn\u2019t jar you from the resting place, but rather invites you to open your eyes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Humans rarely allow themselves time to become fully rested and most of us are often deprived of the right amount of sleep.&nbsp;
