{"id":4279,"date":"2020-06-02T08:20:33","date_gmt":"2020-06-02T15:20:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/cyndicombs.com\/coaching\/?p=4279"},"modified":"2024-05-15T10:33:41","modified_gmt":"2024-05-15T17:33:41","slug":"the-importance-of-being-self-centered","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cyndicombs.com\/coaching\/2020\/06\/02\/the-importance-of-being-self-centered\/","title":{"rendered":"The Importance of Being Self-Centered"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Does self-care seem indulgent or selfish right now?&nbsp; <\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Do you feel like you can\u2019t take a break, ask yourself what you need, and then give that to yourself?&nbsp; Does thinking of your own needs NOW make you a bad person?&nbsp; No!&nbsp; No it does not.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Most of us are feeling rage, or fear, or sadness, or shock or all of the above about the events happening in our world.&nbsp; These emotions are catabolic and drain our energy.&nbsp; They increase our stress levels, release cortisol that depletes our adrenals, and exhaust our physical apparatus.&nbsp; How much good can we do if we show up to protest feeling hungry, tired, or overwhelmed?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Self-care is NOT indulgent.&nbsp; Self care is CRUCIAL if you expect to help, uplift, or protect anyone &#8211; especially yourself!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The world NEEDS all of it\u2019s warrior spirits right now! &nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The time is here to stand up for what you believe in &#8211; which is altogether DIFFERENT than pushing against what you do not want &#8211; and you cannot stand for something if you are too exhausted to stand!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>PLEASE do whatever you feel called to do, whatever you feel capable of doing to support our brothers and sisters of color, but please remember to take care of you first.&nbsp; You will be a far more effective ally if your energy is fully engaged.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You are as deserving of love and care as the people you want to support and uplift.&nbsp; And you will be a far more effective advocate for change if you feel positive and powerful instead of drug-out or depleted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"614\" src=\"http:\/\/cyndicombs.com\/coaching\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/serve-myself-1024x614.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1923\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cyndicombs.com\/coaching\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/serve-myself-1024x614.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/cyndicombs.com\/coaching\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/serve-myself-300x180.jpg 300w, https:\/\/cyndicombs.com\/coaching\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/serve-myself-768x461.jpg 768w, https:\/\/cyndicombs.com\/coaching\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/serve-myself.jpg 1500w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Here is a short list of options for self-care <\/strong><br><strong>adapted from <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Ana Verzone's Freedom School (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/freedomschool.anaverzone.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Ana Verzone&#8217;s Freedom School<\/a>:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u25aa Learn to say \u201cno.\u201d <br> \u25aa Develop a relaxing evening ritual. <br> \u25aa Allow yourself to feel and express all of your emotions <br> \u25aa Bring you into the present moment. <br> \u25aa Create art as a form of anxiety and\/or stress release. <br> \u25aa Remind yourself of the good stuff in life by writing a gratitude list.<br> \u25aa Stop being your harshest critic. Allow yourself to make mistakes. <br> \u25aa Do some stretching exercises. <br> \u25aa Take a walk. <br> \u25aa Drink more water. <br> \u25aa Go out and spend 10 minutes under the sun. <br>\u25aa Go for a bike ride to nowhere in particular. <br>\u25aa Spend time in nature. <br>\u25aa Go to bed early. <br>\u25aa Avoid toxic people. <br>\u25aa Ask for help. Let people know you need some help. <br>\u25aa Call a trusted friend or family member and talk things out. <br>\u25aa Schedule a date night with yourself. <br>\u25aa Limit the time you spend on news\/social media.<br>\u25aa Make time for meditation. <br>\u25aa Do a body scan, and check in with each part of your body. <br>\u25aa Do something nice for someone in secret. <br>\u25aa Donate money to a charity of your choosing. <br>\u25aa Spend time intentionally raising your vibration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Pick ones that appeal to you.&nbsp; Support &amp; strengthen yourself first.&nbsp; Then get out there and do whatever your spirit is being called to do!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I am offering two free coaching sessions to anyone wanting coaching right now!
