{"id":5819,"date":"2021-07-30T03:33:21","date_gmt":"2021-07-30T10:33:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/cyndicombs.com\/coaching\/?p=5819"},"modified":"2024-05-15T10:32:00","modified_gmt":"2024-05-15T17:32:00","slug":"when-i-am-present-i-miss-nothing","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cyndicombs.com\/coaching\/2021\/07\/30\/when-i-am-present-i-miss-nothing\/","title":{"rendered":"When I am present, I miss nothing!\ufeff"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>My <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"previous blog post about releasing travel anxiety (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/cyndicombs.com\/coaching\/2021\/07\/23\/release-travel-anxiety\/\" target=\"_blank\">previous blog post, <em>Releasing Travel Anxiety<\/em><\/a> ended like this:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em><strong>&#8220;<\/strong><\/em><strong><em>When I am present in the moment, I miss nothing<\/em><\/strong><em><strong>!<\/strong><\/em><br><em>I surrender the entire plan to the all-knowing Universe now.\u00a0 My only plan is to enjoy the unfolding, to be present, and savor each moment.\u00a0 Each and every moment is a gift to be opened in amazement!\u00a0 Even in the airports.\u00a0 Even on the airplane.\u00a0 Waiting in line for the ferry.\u00a0 All of it is a rich, delicious experience of which I intend to savor every beautiful, satisfying, vibe-raising moment.\u00a0  <\/em><strong><em>I fucking LOVE trav<\/em><\/strong><em><strong>el!&#8221;<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>We cannot BE present in the moment on vacation, if we have not practiced being present before vacation.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">So how do we \u201cbe\u201d present?<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>My favorite exercise to bring myself into the present moment is super simple!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Name three or more things that you sense &#8211; right now &#8211; with each of your five physical senses.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Name three things I see right now.<br>Name three things I hear right now.<br>Name three things I smell right now.<br>Name three things I can taste right now.<br>Name three things I can touch right now.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Example from the moment I am writing this:<\/strong> I see books, my computer, my dog. I hear the clock tick, the wind chimes tinkle, the tippy tapping on my keyboard. I smell coffee, ham cooking, and the dog\u2019s blanket. I taste coffee, hints of toothpaste, the memory of ham.\u00a0 <br>I feel the floor beneath my feet, the couch supporting my back, Boscoe\u2019s soft fur.\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Boom!\u00a0<\/strong> Here and now.\u00a0 At least for this moment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How does \u2018being present\u2019 release anxiety?<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Anxiety is feeling worried about the future.\u00a0 We cannot be in the present and the future at the same time, so when we bring ourselves into the present moment any time we feel anxious, the anxiety releases automatically.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Being present also releases us from guilt because guilt is a feeling of regret about the past.\u00a0 We only feel guilt when reliving a past moment in our minds.\u00a0 Again, by playing with the exercise above, we can come back to the present, and the guilt cannot exist in present moment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Cool, huh?!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When we can be present with ourselves, we open to our intuition, to Universal guidance.
