This Labor Day marked a truly special milestone for me: one full year of offering sound healing events in Vallejo! What began as a playful fascination with the ocean drum has grown into a full-fledged spiritual practice that continues to expand, bringing peace, relaxation, and deep stress relief to everyone who joins – including myself.
Called by Ocean Energy
I first encountered an ocean drum during a sound bath led by the Frequency Queen, Intuitive Jen, and I was instantly captivated. The vibrations resonated deeply, sparking a fascination that soon expanded to singing bowls, chimes, and a whole array of sound healing instruments. Inspired to dive deeper, I turned to Makena at Soul Wave Holistics in Sacramento, where I earned my certification in Sound Healing Mastery.
Magical Beginnings
Last August, I began promoting my sound healing services to clients and friends. My first paid event was a private sound bath for three people at the home of my dear friend Honoré. It was a perfect starting point for me where I felt comfortable and appreciated as I built confidence in transporting and setting up my instruments—a wholly different skill than playing them!
That same month, Saint Vincent Preschool invited me to lead a staff development session for the teachers, helping them start their school year with intention and clarity.
Then on Labor Day, I held my very first public sound bath event. I rented a dance studio from my daughter’s dance teacher, and celebrated my new career path at the new moon. Six of my clients and friends purchased tickets. It felt like the beginning of something magical!
Raising the Vibe: One Year Later
In the year since, my sound bath events have found two regular homes at Vallejo Yoga and the South Vallejo Arts & Cultural Complex. Attendance has steadily grown at my public events, staff development sound baths are selling more frequently, and the feedback I receive uplifts me as much as the events themselves!
Last week, I was thrilled to be back at Saint Vincent’s for their teachers’ preschool kickoff again, and they’ve requested that I return next year! The vintage chimes I recently added made that session sparkle.
Soothing Energy in Sacred Moments
My year of sound healing has included moments of ecstatic joy, deep connection, and profound meaning. On July 31, I returned to Honoré’s home to offer a sound bath as she made her final transition. It was a sacred experience that filled me with both sadness at losing a friend, and a deep sense of honor for the chance to hold space for her family on that day.
This experience allowed me to witness how powerfully sound can soften the edges of grief, and bring a gentle sense of peace to a room full of heavy hearts.
The Sound of Expansion
On Labor Day, exactly one year after my first public event, I held my largest sound bath gathering to date, a sold-out event for forty-four people at the South Vallejo Arts & Cultural Center. With our yoga studio gatherings capped at eighteen, hosting forty felt like a wonderful expansion into what’s possible, and I’m still buzzing from the high vibes!
